Don't write what the reader will skip over anyway.

I created The Writing Place to make a site where anyone, mature, young, published or unpublished writers can come and get feedback on their work. I also want to make this a fun place where you can read stories, make friends, and get help with improving your writing skills to be at their best.
To try to keep some order, we have a few rules to take note of:
General Site Rules
1. Plagiarism is absolutely unacceptable. You may post other people's work, just be sure to say whose it is. Anyone caught plagiarising will be banned.
2. Absolutely NO pornography of any kind, neither visual nor via link. If broken: You will receive an automatic permanent IP ban, no negotiations of any kind.
3. I won't prohibit swearing in stories but please do not swear in board conversation and put a warning when you post profanity in your writing.
4. Try to use correct grammar and spelling. This is The WRITING Place after all. There is a spell checker available when you click on the 'reply' button. Please spell check your stories before posting them!
Giving Feedback
When you're replying to someone's work, please follow these basic guidelines:
1. Post at least 3 sentences of text. If you don't have at least that much to say, it isn't worth posting in the first place.
2. Be specific! Don't post "I really liked it. It was fun to read! I hope you post more soon!" That IS three sentences, but it doesn't help at all. For all anyone knows, you didn't even read the story/poem/article.
3. At the very least, post (specifically) what you liked and what you didn't like about the piece of writing.
4. Keep all posts on topic. The critique boards are not where we have random discussions. Please keep these in the General Talk board.
Posting your work
When posting up your stories, poems or articles please follow these rules. Doing so will help everyone's work get comments. Breaking the rules will result in your post being deleted.
1. Before posting your own work you must first give two other pieces of feedback (see above) to other people's work.
2. To show this rule has been followed, please state at the top of your own work the titles of the two pieces you have given feedback on (links would be even better). If we don't see these, we may delete your post. You are welcome to re-post your work when you have given the required critiques.
3. If you post a poem, please give both your pieces of feedback in the poetry section; if it is fiction please comment on pieces from the fiction board. The same goes for the non-fiction board.
Welcoming New Members
1. If you are going to welcome a new member in the Introduce Yourself Board, your first post should do just that. Welcome them! And, if you like, tell them about yourself.
2. Any subsequent posts in that persons thread should include the new member in the conversation.
Other than that, join in and have fun! If you're not trying to get into trouble, you really don't have anything to worry about.
